Note:

The SSL Setup wizard is not compatible with POPFile 1.1.2 (or any later release) because these releases use a different SSL support package.

The Windows installer for POPFile 0.22.4 can download the optional SSL Support files either during the installation (when  setup.exe  is run) or at a later time (using the command  setup.exe /SSL ).

Note:

With effect from 18 July 2006 these downloaded files are no longer compatible with POPFile 0.22.x so version 0.2.1 (or later) of the stand-alone "SSL Setup wizard" should be used instead of the POPFile installer to add SSL Support to a POPFile 0.22 installation.

Although the Windows versions of POPFile 0.22.2, 0.22.3 and 0.22.4 are able to download the optional SSL support files from the University of Winnipeg, the downloaded files are no longer compatible with POPFile 0.22.x so an updated SSL Setup wizard has been created to add compatible versions of these files to a POPFile installation.

The SSL support files in the University of Winnipeg repository are no longer compatible with the minimal Perl used by POPFile 0.22.0, 0.22.1 and 0.22.2 so the POPFile SSL Setup wizard actually contains all of the necessary SSL support files for these versions of POPFile.

When the POPFile SSL Setup wizard is used to add SSL support to a POPFile 0.22.3 or 0.22.4 installation it will download the necessary files from the University of Winnipeg then patch one file to make it compatible with POPFile (the patch changes SSL.pm from v1.08 to v0.97).

There will always be some delay between incompatible SSL support files appearing and the creation of an updated SSL Setup wizard so starting with the 0.1.8 release the wizard can be forced to install a set of old SSL support files by using the command

addssl.exe /BUILTIN

If necessary, this version of the SSL Setup wizard will automatically install the fix to solve the slow SSL mail download problem (this only applies to POPFile 0.22.0 because later releases do not have this problem).

The SSL Setup wizard can be used with POPFile 0.22.0 or any later version up to and including POPFile 1.1.1.

Note:

With effect from 13 September 2006 the files downloaded by version 0.1.8 (or earlier) of this utility or by the installer for POPFile 0.22.4 (or earlier) are no longer compatible with POPFile.

Therefore only version 0.2.1 (or later) of the stand-alone SSL Setup wizard should be used to add SSL Support to a POPFile 0.22 installation.

Work on the 0.23.0 release has started but a lot remains to be done. This new release will include phase 2 of the multi-user support for POPFile. As part of these changes the UI has been redesigned, so a special CVS installer has been created to demonstrate some of the new features.

This an experimental version and it is not intended to replace your existing POPFile installation; it should be installed elsewhere.

This installer is about 600 KB bigger than the 0.22.2 installer because it installs an enhanced minimal Perl (extra Perl modules are required to support the generation of the cookies).
